To move
When a person in Sweden should move from one place to another, you had to ask your priest
in your local parish for a Exit Permit. This permit should then be sent to the next
priest where you should move to.
The Priest then added the date in the "Moving out book" (Utflyttningsboken) when the person left the parish, and
in the "Moving in book" (Inflyttningsboken) when the person arrived to the new parish.
These books are presented yearly. The moving dates can also be found in the Household Examination Books.
Moving in
In the "Moving in book" you can find out to which village in the parish the person moved
in to and then they refer to which page you can find them in the Household Examination book.
Moving out
In this book you can see were to a person moved and if a person left for the US or other country (emigration). Then you can search
further in the Passenger records, Ship records etc. This we will write about later.
This you can find in the Moving records:
- moving date
- number related to the Household Examination book
- name of person and profession
-
town/place the person moved from
- town/place the person moved to
- sex
Note ! These books can look different depending on in which parish you are searching in. Most of the books contains same information but can be written in a different way. This you will notice more and more when you search way back in time. |
